Class Schedule

Welcome to the class schedule. Below you will find a long table of class meetings and dates, proposed subjects to be covered, links to more information and tutorials, and links to exercises and their due dates. Use these quick links to jump down to a particular month:

The bottom of this table is where "The Latest" link in the top navigation takes you. You will find any late breaking news concerning the class there.

Exercises are due by 9 PM on the due date. You must fill out and send the exercise feedback form that is associated with each exercise by this due date to receive credit. This will indicate when you turned in the exercise and make grading more efficient.

Having problems with the exercises? Just a reminder that you may find your answer quickly at the online "Discussions." Give it a try and remember that your participation earns you points.

Class 2 February 14	• Viewing source code • HTML tag anatomy • HTML skeleton • Basic HTML formatting tags • Text Files • Naming HTML files • Exercise feedback form This week has no assignment to upload; there is still an exercise feedback form to fill out. The page that you prepare during the exercise will be uploaded next week.	Exercise Two Due February 21
Class 3 February 21	• Uploading pages using an FTP client. • Validate your pages: Be sure to have the proper code. An important thing is to feel the rhythm of working on code, proofing in the browser, uploading with the FTP client, reproofing with the browser, and validating your page. Often you will loop between your text editor and browser as you build and edit the page. Then you will upload the page and see if being on the server "breaks" any of your work. More editing, re-uploading the file, proof again, and then validate. You may get dizzy initially, switching between applications so rapidly. Relax. Once you do the "dance" a few times, it will become second nature to follow the steps. In addition to Exercise Three, practice making some lists. Exercise Four has you using nested lists to make an outline of your proposed final project on another page.	Exercise Three Due February 28

Class 6 March 13	• Hexadecimal numbers. • Web Colors • Using Local Styles for web page colors. • A visit to Web Page Design for Designers, Joe Gillespie's site about web page design and his WPDFD Browser Grid. Joe is no longer updating the site but it still contains great information! • Demo Exercise Six. Just a reminder that you will be unable to earn points contributing to the online Discussions after Class thirteen. Class 9 April 3	Tables! • Table Basics • Table Attributes • Demonstrate Exercise Eight. Extra Credit Alert Need some extra points? Demonstrate your "user interface" to the rest of the Class during Class 12. Be ready to explain the rationale behind the "look and feel" that your final project site will use as well as your navigation scheme. Earn up to 6 extra points!	Exercise Eight Due April 17

Class 12 May 1	Learn about special characters, not just the ones wandering the mall. Brief meta tag tutorial with emphasis on keywords and description, the ones that search engines ~~are~~ were looking for. Demonstrate final project user interface for extra credit. Earn up to six extra points.	Work on projects.
Class 13 May 8	"Early Bird" final project presentations Be sure to turn in the Final Project Feedback Form along with your project. Last chance to troubleshoot your final project problems.	Earlybird project demos, work on projects.
Class 14 May 15	All final projects due at this meeting. Begin presentations of final projects. Remember to fill out the Final Project Feedback Form.	Demo Projects
